Lenses
Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM – my everyday walk-around lens until I get the 24-70mm, great for portraits, details, close-ups, making use of depth of field and spatial compression.
Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM – wide angle for environmental shots, events, spatial expansion.
Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM – perhaps the best all-purpose walk-around lens for everyday and travel use. (A similar but lighter weight and less expensive option to this is the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM, which has the advantage of Image Stabilization.)
Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM – great for portraits, working in closely with a subject or in low light without a flash, and for beautifully creamy backgrounds at f/1.4 and 1.8.
Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM – (I borrowed this one once) incredible for super close macro shots and dramatically shallow depth of field, also good for portraits.
