This donation page was originally set up in preparation for my volunteer trip to Peru in 2008.  However, I have decided to keep it open to ask for support in funding future volunteer trips.

I originally went to Peru in both 2007 and 2008 to volunteer with impoverished and disadvantaged children, and I did this through teaching and working with children and families near Piura in northern Peru, and then with the children of Aldea Yanapay in Cusco.

Through these experiences I discovered that, while I love volunteering, working with children, and teaching, my passion lies with photographing the work, the people, and the environments of NGO’s and volunteer organizations.  Following these life changing experiences in Peru, I began to focus on being a humanitarian photographer and documenting the work of these types of organizations throughout the world.

As you may realize, many NGO’s are small and survive on very little funding and donations, and thus could never afford to pay a photographer.  However, I cannot resist working with them, and therefore I sometimes have to fund these ventures myself.  That is why I am keeping the donation page alive!

My current, tentative plans are to return to Peru in early 2010 to photograph the work of at least two organizations, Manos Unidas and Awamaki, both coincidentally run by women originally from Seattle.
